Balmoral Beach is awesome. We love walking along the esplanade and there are (now) plenty of cafe and restaurant options. The views across to the Heads and harbour entrance are great. The beach does get busy but it's quite long and you can normally find a spot. It is also less populated by surfers and their boards. There are great rock pools to explore at low tide. There is grassy, shaded park area for those who want to stay out of the sand and sun.
